| Abstract | The U.S. SALE Program is the latest initiative by the United States and the international community to focus on subglacial Antarctic lake environments (SALE). SALE is also an important focus of the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008. Subglacial environments are defined as at or below the ice-bed interface of ice sheets and glaciers. This includes ice-water interface above subglacial lakes and beneath ice shelves. (mte) |
