| Abstract | This special issue of Terra Antartica presents selected papers from the workshop on Frontiers and Opportunities in Antarctic Geosciences held at the University of Siena in August of 2004. The first session summarized priorities of national and international programmes, looked at specific national and international Antarctic facilities; and studied solid earth science community challenges. The second session provided a forum for research opportunities and initiatives in the geology/geophysics realm; and future interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts. The keynote lectures and topical sessions addressed innovative, interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts for the future of Antarctic research. (mte) |
