| Abstract | In September 2006, scientists recorded the largest ever ozone hole over Antarctica. Along with being larger, the hole was also deeper and lasted longer than previous holes. The cause of the increase was the record low temperatures in Antarctica in 2006. The colder the temperature, the larger and deeper the ozone hole. Scientists estimate improvements in the ozone hole may not appear until 2010, and recovery not until 2040-2080. (lel) |
