|Abstract:||The aerial photographic reconnaissance technique as a tool of glaciology has enabled the documentation of the extent and character of glacierization. The material at hand has resulted in a collection of 128 photographs of glacier features together with explanatory text and glossary. Most of the photos cover W. North America; the others include mountain ranges extending to Antarctica. Thirteen sections deal with glacier dynamics, surface features, mass balance, and glaciation. The concluding photos in the book illustrate a few of the features of the smaller glaciers and ice sheets of North America as they appear in the grander scale of Antarctica at the Ross Ice Shelf, Byrd Glacier, nunataks, mountain ranges, and on the continental ice sheet.|
