Abstract:Two cores were drilled through the Lazarev ice shelf and ice temperature, texture and other parameters studied. The ice shelf at these two points was 370 and 374 m thick, respectively, and the ice was determined to be of continental origin, an outgrowth of the glacier and not a result of bottom freezing.
